[Review] The Escape Artists by Chris Wallace

I received a copy of the book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

On a scale of fireflies to trannies this book is confusing as hell.

It was a struggle to finish reading this book simply because I had no idea what was going half the time. I do admire the author’s brave writing style. Something that could have been helpful would have been the POVs at the beginning of the chapters. I had no idea who was narrating half the time. Throughout the first part I thought it was the same person. And I had no idea if the book was realistic fiction or fantasy. The large cast of characters made it difficult to follow and I still don’t know what happened to most of them.

Even after finishing the book I am terribly confused. If you asked me what it was about I would be unable to give you a straight and complete answer.

I do think it’s an interesting coming of age story that also talks about how people are all connected. I think it also touches on life after death.

I recommend this book to anyone with a love for confusion, reality mixed with fantastical elements and time to go back and reread this book several times in an attempt to understand it. If you can also delve deep into literary works and get the deeper meaning that might help. If you figure it out, be sure to let me know.
